Ca' del Bosco Chardonnay Curtefranca 2018
€ 155
The 2018 Chardonnay Curtefranca by Ca' del Bosco is a DOC white wine that represents the maximum expression of the Franciacorta terroir. Produced exclusively from Chardonnay grapes, this wine comes from six vineyards located in the municipalities of Erbusco and Corte Franca, with a venerable average age of 34 years, which contributes to the wine's complex structure and distinctive aromatic profile.
The 2018 harvest was characterized by a particularly cold winter, with temperatures reaching -7°C, followed by a cold and humid spring that delayed the budding of the vines. However, a sudden increase in temperatures in mid-April favored a rich fertilization of the flowers, with a summer that fully materialized only from July 15, bringing with it scorching heat until the end of August. These conditions allowed an optimal ripening of the grapes, harvested in September with a yield of 57% of wine from the harvested grapes.
The winemaking follows the Ca' del Bosco Method, which includes manual selection of the grapes, post-harvest cooling, and an exclusive system of washing and hydromassage of the bunches before pressing in the absence of oxygen. The must ferments in small barrels of selected and seasoned oak, and the wine then ages on the lees for nine months, completing the malolactic fermentation. This process gives the Chardonnay a unique complexity and olfactory harmony, which evolve during an aging in the bottle for over three years.
This Chardonnay stands out for its freshness, aromatic complexity with notes of vanilla and white-fleshed fruit, and a rich structure that makes it ideal for prolonged aging, ensuring a favorable evolution in the coming years.
