Donnafugata SurSur 2023 Grillo Sicilia DOC is a Sicilian white wine that celebrates the native Grillo grape variety, known for its freshness and vivacity. The name “SurSur”, which in ancient Arabic means “cricket”, refers both to the grape variety and to the characteristic summer sound of crickets, a symbol of serenity and nature. This name is also a play on words that evokes the lightness and cheerfulness of the wine.

Produced on the Contessa Entellina estate, in the hills of the hinterland between Marsala and Salemi, SurSur grows in an ideal Mediterranean climate that favors the development of a rich and complex bouquet. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified with modern technologies to preserve the aromatic characteristics of Grillo. The vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, followed by a short period of aging in the bottle that further enriches the freshness and aroma of the wine.

At first glance, SurSur presents itself with a bright straw yellow color with greenish reflections. On the nose, the wine offers an inviting aroma of white-fleshed fruit, such as peach and melon, accompanied by floral notes and a light mineral touch. On the palate, it is fresh and fruity, with a pleasant acidity that makes it lively and persistent, finishing with a delicate mineral sensation that invites another sip.
