Pietro Rinaldi, Barbaresco San Cristoforo 2019
€ 150
The Barbaresco San Cristoforo 2019 by Azienda Agricola Pietro Rinaldi is a masterpiece of Piedmontese winemaking, produced exclusively with Nebbiolo grapes from the renowned San Cristoforo cru, located in the municipality of Neive, in the Langhe. This vineyard, thanks to its optimal exposure and the composition of the soil, guarantees exceptional quality of the grapes, which is reflected in the refinement and complexity of the wine.
Intense ruby red in color with delicate garnet reflections, this Barbaresco offers an unmistakable aromatic bouquet, with notes of dried flowers such as rose and violet, balsamic accents and a minerality that recalls the terroir of origin. On the palate, it stands out for the balance between freshness and structure, with velvety tannins and a long and enveloping finish.
The vinification is done with traditional methods, including a fermentation at a controlled temperature and a subsequent refinement of 16-18 months in large 25-hectoliter Slavonian oak barrels. This process allows the wine to develop a unique complexity, while maintaining the typical elegance of Nebbiolo.
The name “San Cristoforo” recalls the patron saint of travelers, a symbol of protection and guidance. This symbolic element is intertwined with the “journey” of the wine itself, which matures slowly, acquiring extraordinary depth and richness over time.
Barbaresco San Cristoforo 2019 lends itself to prolonged aging, developing complex and intriguing tertiary aromas over the years. It is the ideal companion for highly structured dishes such as braised meats, game and Piedmontese specialties with white truffles, but it is also perfect as a meditation wine, to be enjoyed slowly to capture all its nuances.
