Pol Roger Rérerve Brut
€ 150
Pol Roger Réserve Brut is an exceptional champagne, celebrated not only for its finesse and balance but also for its historic connection with Sir Winston Churchill, one of the house’s most famous admirers. This connection is so significant that Pol Roger dedicated one of its most prestigious cuvées to the famous British politician, the “Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill”. Churchill frequently praised Pol Roger’s champagne for its superb quality, and the house has honored his appreciation by making it a permanent part of their history.
This champagne is composed of equal parts Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay from 30 different crus. The addition of the 25% reserve wines helps maintain a consistent style and high quality year after year. After four years of aging in the cellars of the house, it presents a remarkable complexity, balance and distinction.
The color is a bright straw gold, with fine and persistent bubbles. On the nose it opens with intense aromas of fruit such as pear and mango, then evolving into notes of white jasmine, vanilla and brioche. On the palate, the attack is frank and dynamic, with a beautiful harmony and a pleasant freshness, which merges with a solid structure. The flavors of cooked fruit, such as quince jelly and apricot jam, mix with fragrances of beeswax and acacia honey. The long-lasting aromas include notes of candied orange peel and spices such as cardamom and anise.
This champagne is particularly suitable as an aperitif or can accompany an entire meal, thanks to its structure and freshness. The careful vinification includes a low-temperature alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, with a complete malolactic fermentation, followed by a long maturation in the cellar before disgorging.
