Vietti Timorasso Derthona 2021
€ 77
The 2021 Vietti Timorasso Derthona is a DOC Colli Tortonesi white wine, produced exclusively with Timorasso grapes. This wine celebrates the unique terroir of the Tortona hills in Piedmont, offering a vivid representation of the Timorasso grape, which is known for its ability to evolve well over time thanks to its complex structure and intense minerality.
The grapes for Vietti Timorasso Derthona come from different parcels in the Monleale region, with south-east and south-west exposures, on soils rich in clay and limestone. The wine is known for its intense yellow color with green reflections, and on the nose it stands out for its aromas of pear, peach and floral touches of acacia and hawthorn, enriched by typical notes of honey. With aging, more intense mineral notes emerge, sometimes accentuated by the characteristic hint of hydrocarbon that further refines the wine.
The vinification of Derthona Timorasso involves a fermentation that lasts about four weeks, using a combination of ceramic vessels, oak barrels and stainless steel tanks, but avoiding malolactic fermentation to preserve the natural freshness of the wine. This process helps to create a dry, warm and soft wine, very balanced, with a long persistence and a lively acidity in the finish.
