Vignoble du Rêveur Orange Wine Artisan BIO 2020
€ 78
The 2020 “Artisan” is an orange wine produced by Vignoble du Rêveur, located in the village of Bennwihr, in Alsace. This wine is composed of a blend of 60% Pinot Gris and 40% Gewürztraminer, from vineyards with vines over 40 years old, grown on Quaternary alluvial soils. The grapes, certified biodynamic, are subjected to carbonic maceration for 10 days, followed by spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks. The wine then ages for 12 months on the fine lees in the same containers, without the addition of sulphites and without filtration before bottling.
In the glass, the “Artisan” presents a light salmon color. On the nose, it offers an intense and fruity bouquet with aromas of rose, mirabelle plum and apricot, accompanied by a spicy touch. On the palate, the wine is tonic and tasty, with a balanced structure and a pleasant freshness that invites the next sip.
Fun Facts, Name and Tradition: Vignoble du Rêveur, which means “The Dreamer’s Vineyard”, was founded by Mathieu Deiss, son of Jean-Michel Deiss of the renowned Domaine Marcel Deiss, and his partner Emmanuelle Milan. Mathieu inherited the vineyards from his maternal grandfather in 2011 and, together with Emmanuelle, began this personal project in 2013. The name “Artisan” reflects the artisanal and nature-friendly approach adopted in the production of this wine, which combines tradition and innovation to create a unique wine experience.
This wine represents a modern interpretation of macerated wines, best expressing the Alsatian terroir through biodynamic practices and minimalist winemaking.
