Venica & Venica Ribolla Gialla “L'Adelchi” 2023

 60

The Ribolla Gialla “L'Adelchi” 2023 by Venica & Venica is a tribute to the father of the current owners, which represents a deep connection with the land and family traditions. This wine, grown in the renowned hills of the Friulian Collio, is known for its liveliness and complexity.

Ribolla Gialla is a native variety of Friuli, famous for its bunches which, when fully ripe, take on an intensely golden colour. This particular shade gives the variety its name, which means “yellow” in Italian. The vineyards located in the Collio DOC benefit from an ideal microclimate which emphasizes the aromatic and gustatory qualities of this grape.

Vinification and Maturation:
After manual harvesting, the grapes undergo maceration for approximately 14 hours at controlled temperatures, followed by fermentation and maturation on the yeasts for five months, partly in large wooden barrels and partly in steel containers. This process gives the wine a balanced structure and remarkable freshness.

The color is bright greenish yellow. On the nose, Ribolla Gialla “L'Adelchi” exhibits a delicate bouquet of wild flowers and fruity notes of golden apple and Kaiser pear, enriched by citrus accents. On the palate, it stands out for a typical freshness of the variety, accompanied by an almost brackish flavor and a slight minerality. The citrus notes return in the finish, completed by an elegant acidity.

Ideal with delicate seafood appetizers, sandwiches with tuna sauce, courgette cream soup, butter and salmon croutons or grilled chicken salad. Serve at a temperature of 12-13°C to enhance all its qualities.

This wine has excellent aging potential, maintaining its organoleptic qualities for up to six years.
